1. 100% On-Device Privacy Commitment

At CompressGuy, we believe your personal memories should remain yours alone. The application is built from the ground up to operate with zero server dependency. All processing, indexing, scanning, metadata analysis, and video compression take place directly on your iPhone.

No personal video files, location tags, metadata coordinates, or camera identifiers are ever transmitted, uploaded, or exposed to external servers or third parties.

2. Permissions and Access Requests

To perform its functions, CompressGuy requests the following permissions from your system:

  • Photo Library Access: Required to scan, read, and compress video assets. We access your library locally via Apple's PhotoKit API. The app creates a local user album titled "CompressGuy" to organize and save your compressed videos.
  • Location Data: Location tags are processed strictly on-device to build the interactive photo map and group videos by city. We do not track, capture, or share your physical location coordinates.
  • Local Notifications (Optional): Used to notify you of batch compression completions or schedule space-saving reminders when reclaimable storage thresholds are exceeded.

3. Data Deletion and Storage Access

CompressGuy integrates with Apple's secure system APIs for file modifications and deletion. When you delete original source files using the app's clean-up tools, we request standard system confirmation. The original files are automatically moved to your system's "Recently Deleted" folder inside the native iOS Photos application. These files remain under the custody of the Apple iOS sandboxed system and are not permanently deleted unless you manually empty that folder or allow 30 days to elapse.

4. Analytics and Crash Reporting

To improve user experience and app stability, we may collect anonymous, aggregated diagnostic metrics (such as crash logs or performance load times) provided by Apple's built-in App Store analytics. This data contains no personally identifiable information (PII) and does not contain any details of your photo library content.
